#1 Washi tape everything
I know that it sounds weird when you heard this but washi tape can really help you a lot to organize your bullet journal. To mark an important page such as birthday list or even your budget page, you can put a washi tape wherever you desire to help you find that page faster. Here is the example:
Note: Use a foil based washi tape to be more visible when the journal closes such as like this one.
There are so many things you can do with washi tape beside the one that I told you. You can stick images and photos with washi tape to brighten up your pages or to cover up your written mistake.
Just stick a washi tape on top of the mistake about 1 or 2 layers depending how much coverage you get. If you don’t want it to be visible, you can use a darker color washi tape like this and put 2 layers of it. You want to have a good coverage but you need to be able to write and see clearly on top of it.
#2 Clear glue tape
You won’t be able to create a clean look if you’re using washi tape instead you can use this permanent adhesive tape to stick photos and images on the pages.
This tape does not runny and makes you paper wrinkle as your usual paper glue. It creates a clean look for your pages and sticks well.
#3 Personalized your own key
If you find it very hard to remember your key, you can customize it via color. You can color the pages based on the key system you arrange.
You can also make your own symbol so that it can be easier to remember without having to flip to the key page all the time.
Another thing you can do is to categorize the part in your bullet journal by cutting the bottom part of the pages based on the month or the tracker pages you have. This will prevent you flip through pages between key and index page.
#4 White gel pen to cover up mistakes
Okay, so you already one step ahead as a beginner and you started to use a drawing pen. How to erase the mistake of the drawing pen without using washi tape? You can use a white gel pen to erase the mistakes little by little by writing on top of the mistakes.
#5 Use stickers
If you feel like you don’t want to draw most of your spread especially yearly calendar spread or you weekly spread, buy a calendar stickers to help you finish the yearly calendar spread faster.
For the weekly spread, use washi tape days of the week so you don’t have to draw it. When you just feel you don’t like to draw, these stickers can help to make your spread easier and faster!
#6 Stick a pocket for your bullet journal
Having a pocket has really help me a lot to keep all of my receipt or any images that I want to stick on my bullet journal. You can download the template for the pocket I made or you can stick any envelope depending on the size of your bullet journal.
The size of my pocket is 10.5cmx10.5cm. You can download it for FREE when you sign up to our mailing list!
Note: You can use any type of thick paper so the pockets will be durable.
#7 Use a bullet journal stencil
I don’t know about you but I can’t really draw as good as many people out there. I usually need to draw pattern before using a pen to prevent any mistakes. It takes time to do that and to be honest, I don’t have that much time. So in order for me to shorten the time making the spreads on my bullet journal is to use a stencil.
This stencil can help you to create a fast look for every page in your bullet journal. You can create different banners for your header page or your inspiration quote page. It is a very simple hack but can make your journaling journey much easier!
#8 Sticky notes to make more space
There are so many useful ideas you can do with sticky notes for your spread such as for to-do list or shopping list, you can stick some sticky notes on your bullet journal and then remove it whenever you need it.
Stick one page of the sticky note with washi tape and then pile up the rest on top of it and when you need to do grocery shopping, you can just remove one note at a time. As easy as that!
Sticky notes also great to stick in “Brain Dump” page where you can write all of your ideas without having to worry the page is not enough. Don’t know how to stick it? pile it up one another but leave a gap in between so you can flip it over to find ideas you have written.
